Qualified safety and health specialists shall perform inspections for high-risk workplaces and projects.

The following is an excerpt from Forest Service Handbook 6709.12, Section 11—Inspections:

11.11—High-Risk Workplaces. (cont.)

  1. Vehicle and equipment maintenance, carpentry, and other shops.

  2. Any location housing an activity involving powered machinery, equipment, electrical devices, and other mechanical apparatus.

  3. Loading operations or operations involving frequent backing or overhead handling of material; for example, ware-housing and zone fire caches.

  4. Operations involving chemical storage or usage.

  5. All facilities used for housing personnel.
