Qualified safety and health specialists shall perform
inspections for high-risk workplaces and projects.
The following is an excerpt from Forest Service
Handbook 6709.12, Section 11—Inspections:
11.11—High-Risk Workplaces. (cont.)
- Vehicle and equipment maintenance, carpentry, and other shops.
- Any location housing an activity involving powered machinery, equipment,
electrical devices, and other mechanical apparatus.
- Loading operations or operations involving frequent backing or
overhead handling of material; for example, ware-housing and zone
fire caches.
- Operations involving chemical storage or usage.
- All facilities used for housing personnel.
