DescriptionTotal tree height, seasonal shoot elongation, dates of growth initiation and cessation, and mean daily growth rate were measured and analyzed for a population of jack pine full-sib families derived from inter-provenance crosses. Parental provenance had no effect on these variables although this may have been due to small sample size. Progenies differed significantly for all characteristics and little detectable dominance variance. Total tree height and total seasonal growth were more strongly related to mean daily growth rate than to the date of growth cessation, which was a measure of growth duration.
