DescriptionIn a study of hardwood regeneration, experimental plots were treated to produce residual densities of 40, 60, 80, and 100 square feet of basal area per acre with 30, 45, and 60 percent sawtimber. After 9 years, numbers of stems and percent stocking were estimated for each species and they were rated for reproductive potential under different residual densities. Data from a 3-year-old patch cutting are given for comparison.
