    Description

The Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) of 1996 has placed new standards on the registration and regulation of pesticides intended to protect children. The most significant changed mandated by FQPA relate to the registration process termed the "Risk Cup." This approach to risk analysis has resulted in greater restrictions on the application of pesticides used in forestry and in the lost of uses critical to natural resource management. This paper will discuss the current status of pesticides available for use in forest nurseries in the United States. The paper will also cover the potential future for new and currently registered chemical alternative to methyl bromide.
