DescriptionFor more than a century, agricultural and biological engineers have provided major advances in science, engineering, and technology to increase food and fiber production to meet the demands of a rapidly growing global population. The land base for these technological advances has originated largely from forested lands, which have experienced dramatic declines over the past century. The resulting landscape is a mosaic of agricultural, forest, and urban lands that may not be sustainable with respect to the expected goods and ecosystem services, including water quantity and quality.
