Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. Poker Jim Butte Picnic Area

Polallie Campground

Formerly a designated dispersed campsite, this campground is adjacent to Polallie Trailhead.

Polallie Trailhead

The trailhead has interpretive signs and a seasonal outhouse. Provides access to: East Fork Trail #650 and Elk Meadows Trail #645 within Mount Hood Wilderness.

Poland Junction

Recreational opportunities include hiking, motorcycle riding, horse riding, and OHV riding.  There are no developed recreation sites in this part of the forest.  Trail information will be added as time allows.  Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve this site.

Pole Bridge

Pole Bridge is an undeveloped campground with scattered tables and fire rings.  Warm River goes through the campground but is a small creek at this site.

Pole Creek Cabin

Pole Creek Cabin is unique in not only its quiet end-of-the-road location, but that it is also located along both a winter snowmobile trail and within the Pole Creek Cross Country Ski Area trail system. Pole Creek Lake Campground

Pole Creek Campground is located atop Pole Creek Mountain in a scenic lodgepole pine and Engelmann spruce forest, elevation 10,000 feet. Pole Creek Lake is a five-minute walk from the campground, offering pretty views and rainbow trout fishing. Trailheads for both hikers and ATVs are nearby.

Pole Creek X-Country Site

The area provides opportunities for cross-country skiers and snowshoers to explore loops, hills, ridges and forested areas throughout the winter.

Pole Flat Campground

This campground is away from the main road and up the hill overlooking the river and the dredge ponds. Campsites include picnic tables tent pads fire rings with cooking grills. Campground amenities include a vault toilet and drinking water. Sites accommodate trailers and motorhomes up to 32 feet long.

Pole Hill Road (#122)

Pole Hill Road is located 3 miles east of Estes Park off Highway 36. Pole Hill Road starts on private land with many side roads branching off. The National Forest boundary is 0.9 miles from the highway. Dispersed camping with trailers along #122 is not recommended due to the roughness of the road. Please note there is no access from Larimer County Road 18E to the east side of Pole Hill Road.

Pomerelle Ski Resort

Pomerelle Ski Resort is located 25 miles off Interstate 84 via Idaho 77 (Declo/Albion exit #216). The resort offers challenging terrain for beginners as well as expert skiers. Located in Gogebic County 8 miles southeast of the town of Marenisco, Mi, on the Bessemer Ranger District, in the southern half of the Ottawa National Forest. Pomeroy Lakes

The lakes have very good fishing for cutthroat and Rainbow crossed with cutthroat. It is stocked periodically and the average sized fish is 10 - 12 inches.
