The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service will host a series of wildland firefighter recruitment events in January 2026. Candidates interested in permanent and temporary wildland firefighter positions throughout California are invited to attend these informational events to learn about opportunities, connect with current Forest Service firefighting staff, and get assistance with the hiring process.

Forest Service fire personnel will be available to meet with potential applicants.

Available Positions 

Pay Information 

Compensation is based on the new 2025 Wildland Firefighter (GW) locality pay tables. Pay ranges from grade GW levels 3 through 9 and varies based on the position and duty location.  Review the positions on USAJOBS.gov for more information.
