Well maintained Civilian Conservation Centers enhance students' learning environments

Timber Lake Lower Dorm Showers

Facilities maintenance plays a key function in fostering a positive learning environment. While students are enrolled in Distance Learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, Timber Lake Job Corps facilities maintenance professionals Tony Rickman and Ernesto Alcantar are hard at work making building improvements on their center. When the 48 students housed in Dorm A Lower return to center, they will be welcomed with totally renovated showers. The shower project is a complete rebuild that included removing the existing sheet rock and replacing it with plywood covered in fiberglass reinforced plastic and installing new shower controls. To date, with the shower remodel still in progress, Rickman and Alcantar have each devoted 160 hours to the project.
