Wilderness Permits

Wilderness Self-Issue Permits

Required for all visitors that enter all Willamette National Forest wilderness areas . A permit is necessary for each group entering the wilderness. Self-issue permits are free and available at all wilderness trailheads. These permits are used to assist in the management of these areas.

Limited-entry area permits

Required from May-September at Obsidian and Pamelia Lake areas.  Permits can be booked through recreation.gov.  At Obsidian limited entry area, permits are required June 15-Oct. 31, 2020, and at Pamelia Lake limited entry area, permits are required May 22-October 31, 2020.

Central Cascades Wilderness Permits

Starting in 2021, required for all overnight visitors and some day visitors to the Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Washington, and Three Sisters Wilderness areas, between the first Friday following Memorial Day and the last Friday in September. More information is available here.
