The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland is located in north central Colorado. The forests and grassland encompasses 1.5 million acres and extends north to the Wyoming border, south of Interstate 70 to Mount Evans, west across the Continental Divide to the Williams Fork area and includes short grass prairie east of I-25. Headquarters are located in Fort Collins, Colorado with district offices in Boulder, Fort Collins, Idaho Springs, Granby and Ault, Colorado.
Boulder Ranger District Defensible Space permit applications are available now through April 30. Private landowners in Boulder and northern Gilpin counties looking to reduce hazardous fuels on National Forest lands around their home are encouraged to learn more information and apply.
Indian Peaks Wilderness permits are now available at recreation.gov. Be sure to reference the Backcountry Zone Map and other important information on our Indian Peaks Wilderness page to help you plan your trip.
