15 Miles - a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Film

"15 miles…that’s 79,200 feet. That’s also the approximate length of how much old, dilapidated unfriendly-to-wildlife fencing is no longer on the Colorado landscape, home of the largest elk herd in North America. Migration is easier for elk, deer and other animals thanks to what’s become an annual reunion of sorts by volunteers from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. This “family” is growing its ranks by welcoming new, younger faces to the effort. And they’re firmly grasping the new challenge with both hands." National Trails System

50th Anniversary of National Trails System

In 2018, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the birth of our National Trails System, 11 National Scenic Trails (including the Pacific Crest Trail) and 19 National Historic Trails authorized by Congress, and more than 1,200 National Recreation Trails.

These trails provide outdoor recreation opportunities, promote resource preservation and public access, and encourage the appreciation of the great outdoors and America's history and cultural diversity.
