The Restricted Area generally known as “Oak Flat Campground” has been closed to protect the privacy of traditional and cultural ceremonies of the San Carlos Apache Tribe.
The Mesa Ranger District is implementing a Public Safety Closure Order which will be in effect on January 8, 2021, at 6 a.m. and remain in effect until 6 a.m. on January 10, 2021, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first. The purpose of the order is to protect public health and safety in a congested area where significant injury or death is at high risk, and to protect natural resources from high use and impacts.
NOTE: The Rolls OHV area is closed along with Butcher Jones Road and recreation site. NFSR 143 (Four Peaks Road) from State Road 87 is closed along with NFSRs 1343, 1829 and 166.
