*Fat Bear hydroaxe
A hydro-axe would be used to mulch trees less than eight inches in diameter to improve forest health and improve wildlife habitat on approximately 410 acres of mixed conifer within 4 potential units.
*New recreation special use authorizations
The proposed action is to issue new special use authorizations for recreation-related outfitting and guiding on the Divide District. Authorizations may be for up to 10 years.
*Spruce Lakes dead tree mitigation
Use certified blasters to fell dead trees within 3/4 of a tree length around the Spruce Lakes in the Weminuche Wilderness to mitigate the potential for the spillways to clog and minimize the threat of the dams overtopping and failing.
Bear Creek Emergency Egress
Proposal to elevate a gully crossing between Bear Creek and Sheep Creek Subdivision for emergency egress for vehicles.
Blue Park Spruce Beetle Salvage
The Divide Ranger District is proposing to salvage approximately 3,350 acres of dead and dying Engelmann spruce trees near Blue Park located 10 miles northwest of South Fork, CO.
Bristol head roadside salvage
Recover commercial economic value and provide fuelwood or sawlog material for small commercial operators from no more than 250 acres. The projects are designed to include only those areas that are within 300 feet of 3 existing gated roads.
Cat Creek Water Well
A water well will be drilled in the vicinity of Cat Creek, which is located north of Terrace Reservoir. The water will be pumped into a storage tank with a gravity flow to drinkers.
CDOT Gravel Storage Area
CDOT will be applying for a permit to continue to use an existing storage area on La Manga Pass. The existing site is for gravel and waste rock storage related to maintenance of Highway 17.
CDoT Remediation Wells
CDoT will be applying for a permit for existing groundwater monitoring & remediation wells, and drill possibly more wells,on Wolf Creek Pass. The wells are to remediate an existing dissolved-phase petroleum hydrocarbon plume related to their facility
Changing Status of FSR 380.6a
Proposal to change status from Level I maintenance to Level II maintenance and possibly open the road for public use.

DITCH BILL EASEMENTS
The Forest has 87 applications for Ditch Bill Easements. The Forest intends to process at least 25 of these applications in FY05. This action involves authorizing historical facilities that qualify under the Ditch Bill.
Findley Gulch Small Tracts Act
Complete one interchange of approximately 3.1 acres to resolve one encroachment of private residence and compete a sale of approximately 1.32 acres to resolve the second encroachment of a private residence.

Million Dam spillway improvements
The proposed action is to replace the Million Dam earthen spillway approach section with concrete and then to stabilize the rip rap in the spillway channel
Platoro fence extension
This project will be the re-construction of ½ mile of fence and the construction of one-quarter mile of new fence construction on the east boundary of the community of Platoro.
RUTH BROWN PIPELINE PERMIT REISSUANCE PROPOSAL
CURRENT PERMIT HAS EXPIRED. PROPOSAL IS TO REAUTHORIZE AN EXISTING BURIED WATER PIPELINE THAT MOVES WATER FROM A DIVERSION DAM ON THE ROARING FORK OF GOOSE CREEK, ACROSS FOREST SERVICE LANDS TO HAY PRESS LAKE, LOCATED ON PRIVATE LANDS.
Sangre de Cristo AML
For public health and safety we will locate and identify abandoned mine portals for closure. Evaluation will include wildlife surveys primarily for bat use, botanical surveys and historical evaluation prior to any closure work being initiated.
SANTA MARIA RESERVOIR GRAVEL PIT PERMIT REISSUANCE
THIS PERMIT HAS EXPIRED. PROPOSAL IS TO REISSUE THIS PERMIT TO AUTHORIZE THE SAME EXISTING GRAVEL PIT LOCATED ON NATIONAL FOREST LAND AND USED BY THE SANTA MARIA RESERVOIR COMPANY TO STORE MINERAL MATERIALS.
Schilling Springs Water Well
A water well will be drilled in the vicinity of Schilling Springs, which is located north of Terrace Reservoir. The water will be pumped into a 12,000 gallon storage tank with a gravity flow to drinkers.
Tewksberry trail reroute
The proposed action is to reroute 3 sections of the Tewksberry ATV trail for a total of 1 mile. The reroutes would be constructed to ATV trail specifications with tread no wider than 50", and would reduce resource damage and soil erosion.
Triangle Earth Dams
Four earth dams for water collection will be constructed in the area known as the Triangle, just north of Terrace Reservoir. Construction is an earthen dug-out area with a dam and a spillway treated with salt to seal the bottom.
Upper Rio Grande boat ramp improvements
The proposed action is to harden the boat ramps and install rock deflector structures that extend into the channel and provide protection to the stream bank and create a low-velocity area at four existing put-ins on the upper Rio Grande river.
US MILITARY HELICOPTER TRAINING MANEUVERS
PROPOSAL IS TO ALLOW THE US ARMY TO CONDUCT HIGH ELEVATION HELICOPTER TRAINING (takeoffs/landings) IN THE SNOW MESA AREA OUTSIDE OF DESIGNATED WILDERNESS. THE TRAINING WOULD BE DURING THE WINTER MONTHS, OVER A 5 YEAR PERIOD.
WILLIAM BIEBER BRIDGE PERMIT REISSUANCE PROPOSAL
THIS PERMIT HAS EXPIRED. PROPOSAL IS TO REISSUE ANOTHER SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR THE SAME EXISTING BRIDGE THAT CROSSES RED MOUNTAIN CREEK TO ACCESS THE WILLIAM BIEBER PRIVATE LAND HOLDINGS AT THE END OF FOREST SERVICE ROAD 526
WOLF CREEK CENTURY-TEL PERMIT REISSUANCE
THE PROPOSAL IS TO REISSUE A SPECIAL USE PERMIT TO CENTURY-TEL AUTHORIZING THEIR EXISTING BURIED FIBER-OPTIC LINE. THIS LINE FOLLOWS US HIGHWAY 160 FROM THE PASS CREEK TUNNEL TO THE WOLF CREEK SKI AREA
Castor Beetle Salvage Project
The Divide Ranger District is proposing to salvage up to 250 acres of dead and dying Engelmann spruce trees on Beaver Mountain, southeast of South Fork, Colorado. Approximately 2.5 million board feet (5,000 CCF) of Engelmann spruce may be salvaged.
East Sheep Beetle Salvage Project
The Divide Ranger District is proposing to salvage up to 250 acres of dead and dying Engelmann spruce trees in the South Rock Creek drainage, southwest of Monte Vista, CO. Approximately 1.75 MBF (3,500 CCF) of Engelmann spruce may be salvaged.
Full Tilt Spruce Beetle Salvage Project
The Saguache Ranger District is proposing to salvage up to 1101 acres of dead and dying Engelmann spruce trees northwest of Saguache, Colorado. Approximately six million board feet of Engelmann spruce may be salvaged.
North Pool Spruce Beetle Salvage Project
The Divide Ranger District is proposing to salvage approximately 1,000 acres of dead and dying Engelmann spruce trees near Hanson's Mill, east of Creede, Colorado. Approximately eight million board feet of Engelmann spruce may be salvaged.
Cat Creek Cattle and Horse Allotments EA
This is an environmental assessment analyzing seven cattle and horse allotments (Cat Crk, La Jara, Hot Crk, Alamosa, Bancos, Jim Crk and Rough Crk) for the effects of continued livestock grazing and the development of allotment management plans.
Treat by using salvage harvest, bark beetle infested lodgepole pine trees in and adjacent to the Luders Campground.
Cottonwood Trail to Liberty Trailhead
To eliminate inadequate parking and reduce or eliminate private property access issues, the Saguache Ranger District would like to move the trailhead to the more adequate facility at the Liberty Road Trailhead.
UTE CREEK GUIDING AND OUTFITTING, PERMIT
PROPOSAL IS TO ISSUE A PERMIT FOR 476 SERVICE DAYS TO "UTE CREEK GUIDING/OUTFITTING " FOR ANOTHER 8 YEAR TERM. THEY HAVE HAD A PERMIT THE LAST 2 YEARS TO DO SUMMER, FALL, AND WINTER OPERATIONS. THIS WOULD BE AN ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION, NO NEW USE.
