Ashton/Island Park Communication Permit Renewals

Special use permits for communications facilities at the Big Bend, Phillips, and Sawtell Communication Sites have expired and need to be renewed. The new permits will be issued for a period of 30 years.

ATC Communications Juniper to Holbrook Fiber Optic Line

As part of a larger project, the FS is proposing to authorize installation of a fiber optic line along 1.7 miles of the 027 road on the CNG, which would place an underground fiber optic cable in a 3" wide trench along the road in the existing ROW.

Badger Creek Precommercial Thinning and Aspen Enhancement Project

Proposing to non-commercially thin dense lodgepole pine stands while emphasizing aspen species composition on approximately 1,400 acres.

Bannock Guard Station Watershed Improvement Project

The proposed action is to restore approximately 1,000 feet of Mink Creek in the Bannock Guard Station (GS) area, upsize the bridge on the Guard Station access road, modify the culvert bone-yard, and stabilize streambanks at the Mink Creek Group Site.

Bear Gulch Road Closure (Forest Road 159)

Close the .5 mile segment of Bear Gulch Road159 and create a trail. The road is in the bottom of the drainage and cannot be maintainted to a usable standard. Closure is proposed to protect resource values.

Big Bend Ridge Communication Site

The purpose of this project is to re-authorize and amend an existing use on the Big Bend Ridge Communication site through a special use permit.

Big Hole Subsection "Summer" Travel Plan Revision

Develop a clear plan for a mix of trails designed and managed specifically for ATVs, motorcycles, mountain bikes and non-motorized uses. Create a trail network that is safe, environmentally sound, affordable to maintain and responsive to public need.

Big Springs Recreation Residence Tract Special Use Permit Reissuance

The proposed action is to renew 20-year term special use permits for 12 recreation residence lots in the Big Springs Recreation Residence Tract. This action is not proposing any new lots, tracts, facilities, or alterrations of existing facilites.

Bilk Creek Placer Mining Proposal

Environmental analysis of a small-scale placer gold mining operation. Mini-excavators and skid steers would excavate materials for on-site processing with a self-contained gravity separation system. Up to 1.5 acres of disturbance per year.

Bird Canyon Fuels Reduction Project

To modify and improve vegetation conditions to increase the probability of success for managing wildfires adjacent to private homes and improvements. Therefore, we will create strategic fuel breaks and promote aspen, to limit fire spread.

Black Canyon CDT (Continental Divide Trail)

Reroute approx 7 miles of the Continental Divide Trail. Currently the CDT trail is using the Black Canyon Rd #066 and a portion of the Railroad Grade Trail #001. The new trail would be constructed from Reas Pass to the RNA on the Black Canyon Rd.

Black Mountain Blowdown

To harvest portions of mature stands that were damaged by a wind event. The project will also include masticating vegetative material within 300' along the Fish Cr and Baker Draw Roads within the treatment units.

Black Mountain Communication Site modification

Applicants propose modifications to existing site plan for additional building and taller tower(s).

Bloomington Cattle Association Corral

Construct a corral on Forest Land below the Paris Campground to aid in management and movement of cattle.

BPA Sawtell Tower Construction Project

Bonneville Power Administration has requested approval to construct a 50 foot communications tower on a 25 foot by 25 foot concrete base, and bury an 80 foot long cable from the tower to an existing building at the Sawtell Communications Site.

Buckboard Gulch Sage-Grouse Habitat Improvement

This project removes encroaching Douglas fir in 2400 acres of sagebrush steppe to enhance and restore habitat for Greater Sage-Grouse, pygmy rabbits, and sagebrush songbirds of conservation concern.

Burns Canyon Resource Protection Fence

Build approximately 400 yards of fence across the Ranger Trail to protect sensitive plant populations in the Burns Canyon Allotment. Fences will be barbed wire located entirely in the uplands. The permittee will be responsible for maintenance.

Cache Roads Hazardous Fuels Treatment

Treat 3900 acres of hazardous fuels 300 feet off of open forest roads. Smaller diameter conifer and dead and down fuels will be cut, piled and burned to reduce hazardous fuels.

Calamity Road Relocation

Relocate 0.5 miles of road to provide a safer access to the Calamity Campground and Boatramp

Camp Little Lemhi Parking Lot

The Boy Scouts of America, permitted by the US Forest Service, propose to grade and gravel an existing log landing for use as a parking lot.

Caribou Loop Connector

Create 4,300 feet of OHV trail adjacent to Highway 34 connecting Lanes Creek Cutoff Road and Tincup Road. An OHV bridge, culverts, and a cattle guard would need to be installed on the trail.

Caribou Range Mountains Subsection Summer Travel Management Plan

Caribou Travel Plan Revision

Meet Forest Plan direction by designating motorized routes in areas that were managed as open to cross-country motorized travel during the snow-free season. The proposed action will also address snow season motorized access through winter range.

Caribou-Targhee National Forest Plan Monitoring Transition

The CTNF has begun a process to transition its forest plans monitoring plans to ensure consistency with the 2012 Final Planning Rule (see: 36 Code of Federal Regulations 219).

Carlton Cutoff Trailhead Relocation

Move Trailhead a quarter (1/4) mile up to Moody Meadows from current location. Trail will be relocated parallel to FS Road #218. Total reroute will be a total of .35 of a mile.

Cave Falls Road Culvert Replacement

There is an immediate need to replace a dilapidated stream crossing structure on the Cave Falls Road (FS Road #582) where a tributary to Wyoming Creek goes under the road. It will be replaced with an open bottom arch.

CDT 004 - Aldous Lake to Trail Creek Trail Construction

Project maintain & reconstruct 4 miles of Continental Divide Trail from Aldous Lake to Trail Creek on Dubois R.D. Requires tread reconstruction,logging,brushing,signing,drainage installation & some blasting.

CDT 004-Long Creek to Little Table Mtn. New Construction

New construction of approximately 4,000-feet of walking trail beginning at the trailhead where the Continental Divide Trail (CDT)004 leaves Long Cr. Road at approximate Mile Point (M.P.)2.15 and ending where the trail begins across Little Table Mtn

Ching Creek Reconstruction - CDT (Continental Divide Trail)

Project will reconstruct approximately 4 miles of the Continental Divide Trail from Aldous Lake, west to Salamander Lake. The trail requires significant rock and tread work to re-establish an identifiable trail route.

Corral Creek Dam Rehabilitation and Fish Passage

Improve the spillway of the Corral Creek dam to facilitate natural stream function, improve stabilization of the dam, and to provide for fish passage. Includes maintaining a pond in place of the reservoir to maintain public fishing opportunities.

Curlew Wet Meadow Restoration Protection

Restore wet meadow, wetland and riparian habitat on the Curlew National Grassland by restoring streams, stabilizing and reshaping eroding stream channels, banks and draws.

Dairy Syncline Mine Project Meterological Tower Installation

Construction and installation of a meteorological tower to gather and collect air quality and meteorological monitoring data. The project encompasses 1.8 acres on National Forest lands

Dairy Syncline Mine Project Monitoring Wells Installation

The project consists of the installation of up to 6 monitoring wells to gather and collect geologic, groundwater, and other environmental data. The project encompasses less than 3 acres on National Forest lands.

Darby Canyon Trailhead Relocation

Relocate trailhead .25 miles west to a location away from Darby Creek to protect water quality, fisheries and reduce trailhead congestion. Rehabilitate the road beyond new trailhead and convert to a nonmotorized trail. Replace main trail bridge.

Darby Church Camp Improvements

New restrooms, larger turn around area, creation of a camp host area, construction of three new cabins and associated infrastructures, upgrading water system, replacing/enlarging cabins and adding a pavilion.

Deep Creek Watershed Improvement Project

Improve riparian habitat by removing Russian olive and salt cedar along ~2 miles of Deep Creek above Stone Reservoir; stabilize eroding streambanks to improve watershed conditions.

Dry Ridge Exploration

The plan of opperations, submitted by Fertoz USA, Inc. in April 2014, proposes exploration drilling and trenching on Dry Ridge lease I-07238 with limited off-lease disturbance. Proposal for:51 drill pads, 25 trenches, and 8.5 miles of temporary roads

Emigration Summit Parking Lot

Provide an additional 2 acres (approximately) of paved vehicle parking capacity near the summit of Highway 36 for both summer and winter recreation activities.

Ephraim Aspen Wildlife Habitat Enhancement Project

The Montpelier Ranger District of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest is proposing a project to improve wildlife habitat on the southern end of Caribou County in the Gannet Spring Creek Inventoried Roadless Area, 16 miles northeast of Montpelier.

FairPoint Communications Fiber Optic Special Use Permit

This project would install buried fiber optic cable from an existing cable location at South Antelope Flat Road to the Big Bend Ridge Communications site at the top of the Ashton Hill.

Fall River Electric Feeder Line Replacement Project

Fall River Electric under their existing special use permit will replace a buried power line that provides electricity to several telecommunication and long-range radar facilities at the summit of Sawtell Peak. Total length - 3.5 miles over 9 years

Fall River Electric Special Use Amendment Boot Jack Buried Powerline

The Project will replace an existing buried line from the Sawtell Substation to the top of Boot Jack. The line will be buried in the same general location as the existing line.

First Timer Run Improvement and Parking Expansion

Re-contour approx. 3 acres of an abandoned road bed and widen approx. 1 acre of an existing parking lot within the Pebble Creek permitted area. Will also install a toilet and possibly a warming yurt at the parking area.

Fish Creek Restoration Project

Restore this spring creek a tributary to the Henrys Fork by placing native sedge mats within the stream creating new banks narrowing the channel, increasing velocities and sediment transport to improve trout spawning, rearing and overwintering.

Fish Creek Watershed Improvement Project

This project seeks to rehabilitate the dispersed recreation site, improve access roads, define parking areas and close approximately 250 feet of road in a wetland.

Flatiron Aspen Improvement Project

Use prescribed fire to treat 1533 acres to improve the declining aspen population and decadent brush species to create a diversity of age classes for wildlife and critical summer range for big game species as well as for public safety.

Fremont County Solid Waste Transfer Site

Fremont County has requested a special use authorization for a 9.13 acre solid waste transfer station, which would include new scales, scale building, recycling center, transfer station building, and associated interior roads.

Idaho Power and Rocky Mountain Power propose to construct electric transmission lines from the proposed Windstar Substation near the Dave Johnston Power Plant at Glenrock, WY to the proposed Hemingway substation near Melba, Idaho

Geothermal Leasing Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement

The Forest Service was a cooperating agency, assisting the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in that Agency's geothermal leasing analysis and decision. The BLM issued a record of decision on 12/17/2008.

Gibson Jack Municipal Watershed Fence

This fence would further deter livestock from entering the municipal watershed by constructing a fence around this prescription management area.

Gibson Jack Trailhead Relocation

The project will move the Gibson Jack trailhead approximately west to provide parking for 15 vehicles and a trailer turn-around. The project will also relocate portions of trails 014 and 015 and replace the trail bridge over Gibson Jack Creek.

Gibson Jack-Cusick Creek Connector Trail Project

Build 5 miles of new non-motorized single-track trail to connect the City Creek non-motorized trail system to the Gibson Jack non-motorized trail. Project includes expanding Gibson-Jack Trailhead parking lot.

Grand Targhee Resort Maintenance Facility Relocation Project

Construct approximate 10,000 square foot maintenance facility accompanied by fuel storage, vehicle parking areas, a maintenance yard, and maintenance route accessing the site on NFS Lands within the Grand Targhee Resort SUP.

Grayson and Erlanson Placer Mining Operations

Approve two mining Plans of Operations to excavate material with a backhoe and process it through a sluice and trommel. Operations would occur Jun–Nov at 8 different locations and cover a total of 12 acres of public lands.

Green Canyon Road Fuelbreak

Masticate dead and down fuels and remove ladder fuels along the south side of the Green Canyon Road (FS Road # 167) for approx. 4 miles. The area would be 200 feet from the borrow pit.

Harriman Fish Pond

This project seeks to rehabilitate the dispersed recreation site, improve access roads, define parking areas and close approximately 250 feet of road in a wetland.

Head of Buffalo River Road Realignment Project

This project is cancelled from SOPA. Scoping and project analysis did not raise any issues; therefore the project falls under the Category of Actions for which a project or case file and decision memo are not required. No decision Memo will be wrote.

Henry's Lake Flat Driveway

Construct 1/8 mile of new driveway on NFS land to access private property. Obliterate existing 1/4 mi two track; install drainage structures; fence entire road; & install gate(s) to prevent public access. Authorize the driveway through a permit.

Hoffman Area Mountain Pine Beetle Infested Tree Removal Project

Remove lodgepole pine trees infested with Mountain Pine Beetles in the area around Hoffman Summer Home and McCoy Creek Campgrounds, which are dead, dying, and hazard trees.

Hooper Springs Transmission Line

Build a new 20 mile double circuit 115-KV powerline from Soda Springs to the existing powerline in Lanes Creek. The new line will cross about 3 miles of the Forest. Expecting a Forest Plan Amendment; 219 objection regulations will be followed.

Horseshoe Lake, Sheep Falls, Harriman Fish Pond, and Coffee Pot

This project seeks to rehabilitate dispersed recreation sites, imporve access roads, rebuild trails, and define parking areas at various locations on the Ashton/Island Park District.

Husky 1 - North Dry Ridge Mine

Nu-West Industries, Inc., submitted a Mine and Reclamation Plan (MRP) which proposes new open-pit phosphate mining operations on federal leases I-05549, I-8289, I-04 and some adjacent private lands. It also proposes lease mods. and several S.U.A.s.

Husky 1 and North Dry Ridge Phosphate Exploration Project

Exploration drilling of holes to gather information about phosphate reserves on portions of three existing Federal Phosphate Leases and one off-lease area.

Idaho Power SUP Reissuance

Renewal of their existing electrical transmission line special use permit that includes replacing exciting poles, routine maintenance on the existing utility access road and corridor clearing to 50-feet each side of centerline.

Interagency Management of Special Use Permits and Designated Camping in Snake River Planning Area

This Environmental Assessment addresses changes to river management along the Snake River Planning Area and Teton River Canyon due to changes in land use, population growth, and increased recreational use.

Island Park Community Non-Motorized Trail

The Island Park Non-Motorized Trail Project is a route that would connect Harriman State Park and Henry's Lake. This concept was identified by the Island Park Gem Team and the Sawtell Fun Run Committe partnered with the Ashton/IP RD.

Island Park Horse Pasture

This project is being cancelled. The Island Park office is scheduled to close. There will no longer be a need for this pasture.

Island Park Land Acquisition

Purchase two parcels of land and a conservation easement within the Caribou-Targhee National Forest proclaimed boundary from willing sellers. Funds from the Land and Water Conservation Fund will be used to purchase the properties.

Island Park OHV (Off Highway Vehicle) Trails Project

Proposes to designate ~37 mi of trail to connect OHV users to the Forest Trans Sys; ~394 acs at West End would be open to x-country OHV travel; ~15 mi of Forest Rds would be decommisioned; & 77 mi of user-created trail would be closed & rehabilitated

Jackknife Trail and Stream Enhancement

Re-locate Trail #448 (nonmotorized) to replace the section of Road #136 closed due to landslide. Replace road bridge with a longer span trail bridge, rehabiliate the stream channel and restore riparian function and critical fisheries habitat.

Kelly Canyon Ski Hill Mountain Bike Trails and Ski Runs

Develop a mountain bike trail system within the Kelly Canyon Ski Area special use permit boundary and create 2 small ski runs.

Kelly Mountain Communication Site Lease Re-issue

Re-issue 30 year lease to Teton Communications for operations of the Kelly Mountain Communication site. Current lease expires 12/31/2016. Tenant is in good standing with the Forest Service.

Kilgore Gold Ridge and Mine Ridge Project

The Otis Gold Corporation has proposed to conduct mineral exploration drilling within their mining claims. Drilling would occur on 34 sites. All drilling and reclamation would be completed within one year of project initiation.

Kilgore Project

A multi-year mineral exploration program within valid mining claims near Kilgore, Idaho.

Kilgore, North Area

Mineral exploration project expansion. Approximately 4500 ft of new access road construction is planned. Reclamation would commence at the project's conclusion.

Kirkham Hollow Aspen Retention Project

District wildlife staff would like to remove conifers from designated areas to perpetuate survival of aspen clones and retain plant diversity and high quality wildlife habitat.

Kirkham Hollow Conifer Thinning and Aspen Enhancement Project

Enhance aspen on 125 acres. Patches/clones/groups of aspen dominated by sapling/suckers will be identified and all conifer trees <6.0 inch DBH within their boundary will be cut. Conifer outside the aspen patches will be thinned to 11x11 (360 tr/ac)

Lake Canyon Trail Repair and Maintenance

The proposed Lake Canyon Trail project will consist of rerouting short segments of the existing trail to eliminate rock hazards, and improve drainage and grade.

Lead Draw Fence Construction

The Westside Ranger District is seeking public comments on the proposal to construct a fence in Lead Draw to improve riparian and water quality conditions.

Little Smoky Creek Reroute

The project would restore a previously-diverted tributary of Smoky Creek back into its natural discharge location of Smoky Creek.

Macks Inn Sewer Expansion

Fremont County is seeking to expand the Macks Inn Sewer Treatment Facility by increasing the irrigation field (not the leach field) by approximately 50 acres to handle increased needs in the North Island Park area.

Main Canyon Vegetation Management Project

Use prescribed fire and timber harvest to change species composition and structure on 3600 acres in several different vegetation cover types in the Main Canyon area.

Malad Summit ATC Fiber Optic Line

Install buried fiber optic cable along roadside to provide service to Summit campground host.

Middle Henry's Fork Aspen Enhancement

The purpose of this project is to increase aspen regeneration across the Middle Henry's Fork Watershed by decreasing their competition with conifer species. Treatments may include timber harvest and prescribed burning.

Minnetonka Overflow Parking Lot

This project proposes construction of an over-flow parking lot and associated facilities to accommodate the public waiting for a tour of Minnetonka Cave.

Montpelier Ranger District Designated Route Use Changes

This project would change the designated use on three routes from a road to a trail open to vehicles less than 50 inches in width.

Mormon Canyon Motorized Trail Upgrade

Create ATV connecting link from Good Enough trailhead to Scout Mtn. trail system by widening existing motorcycle trail.

Nelson Spring-Pinnacle Road Trail Extension Project

Connect Forest ATV trail 051 with Forest Road 912 by constructing 1/4 mile of trail to provide summer and designated winter public access. Convert Forest road 912 to trail 051 due to loss of public access off private property.

North Fork Tincup Creek Process Based Stream Restoration

The Caribou-Targhee National Forest (CTNF) is seeking comments on a proposal to improve 5.4 miles of Tincup Creek above the North Fork Bridge. Project is 11 miles due west of Freedom Wyoming.

North Island Park WUI

Proposes to reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to private property on approximately 950 acres. A fuel break would be created in three treatment units by thinning, hand-piling, commercial logging, firewood gathering and prescribed burning.

Outfitted Mountain Bike Tours

Medicine Lodge Outfitters has requested mountain biking on existing trails & roads in Idaho Hunting Units 59 & 59A be added to their existing Outfitter and Guide Permit

Owen Bench Water Well

Drill stock-water well to provide water source to existing stock watering system & install 1 mile of new water line & trough. This continual water supply will improve livestock distribution & relieve pressure on riparian systems.

Palisades Outfitter and Guide Special Use Permit Renewal

Renew 10 year outfitter and guide special use permits for McGarry Ranches, The Lodge at Palisades Creek, Hinck's Palisades Creek Ranch, and Wild Man Adventures.

Panels F and G Lease and Mine Plan Modification Project at Smoky Canyon Mine

The J.R. Simplot Company has proposed lease and mine plan modifications to Panels F and G at the Smoky Canyon Mine. The total proposed new disturbance is approximately 170 acres, all of which would occur on National Forest System lands.

Papoose and Sheep Bridge Trails

Manage the user-created Papoose and Sheep Bridge Trails as system, nonmotorized trails. Repair the Sheep Bridge and construct a new trail bridge near Reunion Flat Campground. Rehab and close dispersed camping areas near the Sheep Bridge.

Paris Creek Stream Restoration

Restore .5 mile(s) of Paris Creek by increasing woody riparian shrub cover, stabilizing eroding stream banks, and rebuilding pool habitat for fish and aquatic species.

Pebble Creek Diversion Project

Consolidate up to 9 diversion points on Pebble Creek into one existing diversion. Upgrade the one diversion to handle allocated water right amount and screen it to protect the critical population of Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout.

Pebble Creek SNOTEL Site Authorization

Authorize the NRCS to construct a SNOTEL site in the current location of the Pebble Creek Snow Course Site. The SNOTEL site is located on the Westside Ranger District of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest along Forest Road 24 near Big Canyon.

Pocatello, Michaud, and Midnight Cattle Grazing Reauthorization

Reauthorize grazing on the Pocatello, Michaud, and Midnight Cattle allotments.

Porcupine Pasture Prescribed Burn

Removal of conifers from the Porcupine Guard Station Pasture to rejuvenate grasses and forbs.


Conduct prescribed burning to improve mule deer and elk winter range by increasing the shrub, grass, forb components and apsen. Rainey Creek stream bank stabilization will occur by reshaping the bank and mimicking naturally occurring log jams.

Rainey Creek Restoration at Swan Valley Work Center

The proposed project is restore natural stream function on 1,840 feet (0.35 miles) of lower Rainey Creek on National Forest lands within the Swan Valley Work Center.

Rasmussen Valley Geotechnical Drilling

Nu-West Industries, Inc., submitted a Geotechnical Study Plan which proposes to install several shallow geotechnical borings including piezometers on National Forest land adjacent to Federal Leases I-05975 in support of the Rasmussen Valley Mine EIS.

Nu-West Industries, Inc., submitted a Mine and Reclamation Plan (MRP) which proposes new open-pit phophate mining operations on federal leases I-05975, and some adjacent private lands. It also proposes lease modification and several Special Use Auth

Red Creek Prescribed Fire

Use prescribed fire to treat a 6,900-acre landscape of mixed aspen, conifer, mountain brush.

Red Ridge Trail Repair and Maintenance

To reclaim approx. 1 mile of trail at the Long Gulch trailhead back to single track, lengthen trail, adding new switchbacks, and rehabilitating the remaining 11 miles of trail.

Rock Creek Restoration and Recreation-Wildlife Enhancement

This project is associated with the Hwy 37 improvement project, which consists of improving approx. 3 miles of roadway and 5 stream crossings situated within Rock Creek Canyon. Restoration work will address up to 4 miles of eroding stream channel.

Rock Springs Riparian Enhancement Project

Construct livestock exclusion fence around Rock Springs for protection and benefit of wildlife and watershed; install headbox and pipe water off-site to remove cattle from spring; obliterate unauthorized motorized route and stabilize active headcut.

Rowley Canyon Wildlife Habitat Enhancement

Utilizing hand felling and prescribed burning, juniper stands would be treated to ensure we are meeting habitat requirements for important wildlife species, such as elk, mule deer, ruffed grouse, sharp tail grouse.

Royal Vacation Homes Water Association Special Use Permit Reissuance

This existing water transmission line special use permit, issued for the operation and maintenance of one water line and collection box to private residences, has expired and need reissued for a new term.

Salisbury Estates Emergency Escape Route

The purpose of this project is to create an emergency escape route on National Forest System (NFS) lands from Salisbury Estates located on private property to the loop road within the Sheep Creek Summer Homes under special use permit with the Forest.

Sheep Creek Sage-grouse Habitat Improvement Project

The purpose of the project is to improve sage-grouse habitat on the CNG. The project includes hand and mechanical juniper removal and thinning, creation of a fuel break and small mosaic openings in sagebrush to promote age-class diversity.

Silver Star Telephone Company Wyoming Loop Broadband Completion Project

Burial of approximately 35 miles of two 1.25inch conduits containing fiber optic broadband cable via plowing technique. Route will primarily be within existing road right-of-ways and utility right-of-ways.

Smoky Canyon Mine Panels F & G Extension

Issue a special use permit to J.R. Simplot to construct, operate, maintain and reclaim a haul/access road, powerline and temporary topsoil stockpiles on National Forest land for the expansion of the Smoky Canyon Mine.

Disposal of Soda Springs Dwelling (approximately 0.23 acres) using the authorities granted in the Forest Service Facility Realignment and Enhancement Act of 2005

South Mink Prescribed Fire

Use prescribed fire to reduce hazardous fuel accumulations, regenerate brush communities, increase the amount of young aspen and reduce conifer encroachment across the project area. No road construction or reconstruction will be necessary.

Livestock grazing and permit re-administration for multiple allotments on the Soda Springs Ranger District.

Southern Valley Recreation Project

The project proposes to add eight new trail segments, construct a bridge across Trail Creek. Develop a trailhead at Mike Harris, approve winter routes for grooming and expand Mike Harris Campground. Collaborative project with city of Victor Idaho.

Split Creek 2008 Precommercial Thinning

Proposes to non-commercially thin dense lodgepole pine stands on approximately 7,000 acres.

Spring Creek Bench Conifer Dis-encroachment Project

Remove encroaching conifer by sawyers in sagebrush steppe habitat to enchance habitat for Greater Sage-Grouse and Columbian Sharp-tailed Grouse.

Spring Creek Bench Prescribed Burn Project

Wildlife winter-range improvement project. The proposed project would use fire to treat approximately 2,600 acres (1,300 acres burned in a 50:50 mosaic) of wildlife transitional winter-range.

Spring Creek Trail Reroute (Teton Basin Ranger District)

Reroute the severely eroding steep grade with large rocks, to a new lower grade and reclaim the old route.

Squaw Creek Watershed Improvement Project

The purpose of this project is to restore proper hydrological function and improve aquatic habitat within the upper Squaw Creek watershed, and to best provide safe and sustainable recreational access to non-motorized trails #456 and #454.

Stoddard Creek Recreation Plan

Preparation of a recreation management plan to enhance recreation opportunities in the Stoddard Creek dispersed camping area and reduce environmental impacts to streamside egetaion and unauthorized ATV use.

Strawberry Aspen Treatment

Use prescribed fire and mechanical thinning to reduce conifer encroachment in aspen forest (1400 acres), to improving wildlife habitat and reducing fuel loading in the 2600 acre project area.

T-Mobile Communications Use Lease

T-Mobile has submitted a request for a Communications Use Lease at the Phillips Communications Site. The request includes installation of an 11 foot by 20 foot pre-fab concrete equipment shelter and co-location of antennas on the existing tower.

Telegraph Hollow WUI

Reduce understory tree and brush densisites to change stand age, composition and structure to mimic historic fire regimes and improve wildlife habitat. Masticator would be used and slash piled/burned. No commercial harvest or road construction.

Teton Canyon Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project

Reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to private property, the town of Alta, the Alta municipal water supply, the Treasure Mountain Boy Scout Camp, Teton and Reunion Flats Campgrounds. Improve access along Teton Canyon Road for public safety.

Teton Canyon Trailhead, Campground and Dispersed Recreation Improvement Project

Reconstruct trailheads, obliterate inappropriate dispersed recreation sites, harden or define properly located high use recreation areas, and direct forest visitors to appropriate developed areas.

Teton Canyon Yurt Proposal

Add a new yurt location to an exisiting backcountry ski yurt permittee. The proposed yurt would be in an existing campground on an existing concrete pad. The Yurt would be set up in the fall after the campground closes and removed in the spring

Thomas Draw Road 637 Bypass

New construction of 1,100 feet of single lane road to bypass a section of private property to provide administrative and public access to National Forest land and decommission 150-feet of Road 637 that will no longer be needed

Tie Canyon Road Repair and Trailhead Relocation

The proposed action is to relocate the Tie Canyon trailhead out of the riparian area, stabilize stream banks and resurface the Tie Canyon Road. A short section of trail (100 yd) would be constructed to link the new trailhead with the existing trail.

Tincup Creek Restoration

To restore connectivity of Tincup Creek to the floodplain, enable return of willows, encourage beaver colonization, stabilize vertical eroding banks at meanders, improve habitat for 3 sensitive species, and to improve grazing and riparian conditions.

Toms Creek Powerline

Fall River Electric will install a buried powerline to supply electricity to private land from an existing powerline.

Toponce Habitat Enhancement

Improve and maintain aspen and mountain brush habitat for wildlife benefits and manage forest fuels near multiple ownership jurisdictions.

Toponce Habitat Restoration Project

This project would treat a mountain brush community (mountain big sage, bitterbrush, snowberry) using fire to diversify the age structure and improve conditions for wildlife as well as reduce fuel loading.

Trumpeter Swan Habitat Improvement Project

Place water control structures at the non-functioning earthen dams of Railroad Pond and Thompson Hole to restore these sites for Trumpeter Swan breeding and restore pond and lake wetland habitat for other species.

University of Utah Special Use Permit Moose Creek Seismograph Station

This permit would authorize the use and maintenance of the existing seismograph station for an additional 10 years.

Wells Canyon, Stewart Canyon and Green Mountain Sheep Grazing Reauthorization

Re-authorize sheep grazing on the Wells Canyon, Stewart Canyon, and Green Mountain sheep allotments

West Birch Creek Conifer Encroachment Project

Purpose of this project is to remove conifers that are encroaching upon Greater Sage-Grouse habitat. The proposed action is to cut the encroaching conifers with chain saws and/or masticate, chip, pile and burn or make available to the public

West Pine Creek Stream Restoration

Restore a section of West Pine Creek to the orginial channel, in conjuction with brige replacement on US Hwy 31

Whitebark Pine Protection

Cut, pull back and pile slash from conifers that is located within a 50 to 100 foot radius of mature, cone producing whitebark pine trees. This will reduce the competition and create a fuel break. Slash would be piled and possibly burned.

Winschell Dugway ATV Trail System

Construct and reconstruct 7.8 miles of ATV trail from Caribou City to Morgan Meadows. New construction will connect the historic Dugway with abandoned mining road down the Bilk Creek drainage and into Caribou City. Install 2 bridges across Bilk Ck.

Winschell Dugway Motorized Trail Project

This project would establish a motorized ATV route from Morgan Meadows to Caribou City. The project would include:construction of approximately 2.2 miles of new trail; 4.85 miles of trail reconstruction; and the installation of 4 ATV bridges

Yale Creek Fuels Reduction Project

The 2,989 acre Yale Creek Fuels Reduction Project proposes to reduce the risk of wildland fire and create a sustainable fire community within both the Yale Creek and Old West Ranches subdivisions.
