Dallas #200


The Dallas Trail #200 begins at County Road 17 and ends at an intersection with the Alder Creek Trail #510. The trail begins a steep switchback along a red cliff ledge and continues to climb with views across the valley. At approximately 0.6 miles, the trail intersects the Corbett Trail #209, stay right to continue on the Dallas Trail. It continues through a conifer forest where after approximately 1.3 miles it again intersects the Corbett Trail. A combination of the Corbett Trail and the Dallas Trail makes a loop approximately 6 miles long with an elevation gain of 2,000 feet. The trail continues west to Moonshine Park where it intersects Forest Service Road #852, County Road 7, in approximately 3 miles. It follows FSR 852 for 1.5 miles, then leaves the road and travels along a ridge before switch backing south to intersect the Blaine Basin Trail #203. It cuts north and, in approximately 1.2 miles, it connects the Blaine Basin non-motorized Trail to the section of the Blaine Basin Trail that is open to OHV use. The Dallas Trail is open to OHV use for approximately 1.5 miles. The trail continues north, then turn west as it crosses the Vance Creek and in approximately 4 miles it intersects with Forest Service Road #850 and in approximately 0.9 miles it intersects Forest Service Road #880.  It follows FSR #880 for half a mile, continues west and intersects FSR 881 in approximately 1.2 miles. It crosses FSR #881 and in 1.4 miles, it enters the Mt Sneffels Wilderness where Wilderness Regulations apply. In another 1.5 miles, comes to an ends at an intersection with the Alder Creek Trail.

General Information


From Ouray:

Travel south on Hwy 550, just past the city limits, to County Road 17. Turn left, cross the Uncompahgre River and immediately turn right onto CR 17. Continue for approximately 0.5 miles, parking is on the left at the trail.

This trail can also be accessed from Forest Service Road #852 and #851.1.
