This is the sign for the Humber Park Trailhead and Day Use area located near Idyllwild.

Two trails start at this site: Devils Slide Trail 3E05 and Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail 3E07. Both trails enter the San Jacinto Wilderness area and bicycles are not allowed.  Paved parking and vault toilets at the trailhead.  Call the Idyllwild Ranger Station for current conditions: (909) 382-2921. Adventure Pass or a National Parks Pass required; acquire before arriving at Humber Parking Lot.

Operational Hours: No overnight camping in Humber Parking Lot.
Fees Adventure Pass Required $5/day or $30/year. Interagency Passes also accepted. For more information, please visit our recreation pass page.  Purchase before arriving at Humber Parking Lot, available at Forest Service Ranger Station, 54270 Pine Crest Ave, or at various local vendors.
Permit Info: Wilderness permits are required for day hiking in Mt San Jacinto State Park wilderness.  Devil's Slide permits are subject to quota on weekends from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, Saturdays and Sundays onlyBackpacking is allowed in the Chinquapin Zone and North Rim Zone of the National Forest only, permit is required. 
Busiest Season: Summer
  • Group size is limited to 12 people.
  • No campfires allowed.  Portable gas stoves are allowed.
  • Camp on a durable surface at least 200 feet away from other people, trails, meadows, and water sources.
  • Pack out what you pack in.  Leave no Trace!
  • Dogs are prohibited in the State Park Wilderness, check maps for boundaries.
