District ranger Steve Schacht has closed the Loop Road at the bottom of the switchbacks. The road is now closed all the way across the top to South Pass where the gate is also closed.

An area closure is in effect for areas around the Norton Point Fire on the Wind River Ranger District. This map shows where the closure applies. Some areas are restricted to day use only and some areas are open to all occupancy at your own risk. Call the ranger district in Dubois for the latest information about the trails in the area. The Line Creek Road - Forest Road 123 - is closed due to fire activity in the area. The road will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so. Call the Clarks Fork Ranger District for information - 307.527.6921. Travel safely.
