American Fork Canyon

The American Fork Canyon - Alpine Scenic Loop Backway is more popular than ever. It is estimated that over a million people visit the canyon annually. Due to heavy use, the recreational areas and natural and cultural resources of the canyon are being impacted. The fees collected at the entrance station remain in the area to improve visitor services, maintain recreation facilities, enhance wildlife habitat and protect natural resources.

Visitors who use State Road 92 (Alpine Loop) and do not use recreation facilities, are not subject to fees. All passes are fully transferable between American Fork Canyon and the Mirror Lake Highway Recreation Corridor.

The following passes are available for purchase at the Fee Station at the mouth of American Fork Canyon.  Self service fee tubes are located in various areas along the highway.  Annual passes are not available at the self-service fee tubes.

  • 1-3 Day -- $6.00
  • 7-Day -- $12.00
  • Annual -- $45.00

Fees collected go to enhance recreation opportunities and visitor services in American Fork Canyon.

America the Beautiful - Interagency Recreation Passes are honored. Campground and cave tour fees are separate. For more information contact the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, Pleasant Grove Ranger District at (801) 785-3563.
