Elk Lake Dispersed Camping and Picnic Area
Elk Lake dispersed camping and picnic area is surrounded by pristine wilderness and mountain lakes and streams. There are abundant wildlife viewing opportunities in the area, which is particularly popular with birders. Bears frequent the landscape here, so be sure to be bear aware and follow all regulations and best practices for food storage.

- There is no water available at this site. Visitors must bring their own. Any water taken from streams or springs must be treated prior to consumption.
- There is no cell phone coverage in the area.
- There is no garbage service at this site. Please pack out what you pack in.
- Bear-resistant food storage boxes are available.

Forest-wide stay limit: Camping in an area, campsite, or developed campground is limited to 16 accumulated days within any 30-day period. The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest has a mandatory forest-wide Food Storage Order.

The dispersed camping area is located approximately 50 miles east of Monida on Red Rock Lake National Wildlife Refuge Road.
From Henry's Lake, Idaho take Red Rock Pass from for about 23 miles. The route is complicated and requires travel plan map.
