Blodgett Campground
Located 6 miles from the town of Hamilton, Montana, Blodgett Campground consists of 5 campsites, 1 walk-in site, plus 1 host site, complete with picnic tables, fire rings, and a vault toilet. There are two accessible campsites. Campground can accommodate tents, RV's or trailers up to 45 feet. Blodgett Canyon Picnic Area is located across the creek from the campground.
No fees. First come/first serve. 16 day stay limit.
The campground rests under the towering cliff faces of Blodgett Canyon which are very popular to rock climbers. Blodgett Canyon Trail follows Blodgett Creek into a canyon with views of these spectacular cliffs and spires.
Blodgett Campground Sites
Reservations
- No fees. Campsites are available on a first come/first served basis.
- At least one person must occupy a camping area during the first night after camping equipment has been set up, unless permission has otherwise been granted by the Forest Ranger.
- Camping equipment cannot be left unattended for more than 24 hours without permission by the Forest Ranger. The Forest Service is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal property.
General Information
Bears frequent the area - A Food Storage Order is in effect on all National Forest System lands within the Montana portion of the Bitterroot National Forest from March 1 - December 1 annually.

Campground open 24 hours 7 days week during open operational period.
- Camping is limited to 16 consecutive days. After 16 days, you must move 5 miles away from your camp site, as the crow flies.
- Quiet hours 10 p.m. – 6 a.m.
- Pets must be leashed in the campground. Consider leashing dogs at all trailheads the first few miles of the trail to prevent user conflicts in congested areas.
- No garbage service, pack it in/pack it out.
- Food Storage Required
- Campfires allowed depending on Fire Danger level. Ensure your campfire is OUT before you leave.
- Do not rinse or wash dishes/etc. out of the creek. Do it on land.
- Respect wildlife
- Use of fireworks or other explosives is prohibited on all National Forest lands
- Firing a gun is not allowed in or within 150 yards of a residence, building, campsite, developed recreation site, or occupied area, across or on a road or body of water, or in any circumstance whereby any person may be injured or property damaged.

Directions
From Hamilton, Montana go west on Main Street for 1 mile, turn north (right) onto Ricketts Road and travel 0.5 miles. Turn west (left) onto Blodgett Camp Rd/FS 736, and follow approximately 4 miles to the campground.

Blodgett Creek offers a secluded fishing experience along with scenic beauty. Blodgett Creek is home to Rainbow, Cutthroat, and Brown trout. Blodgett Canyon Trail follows the creek, offering both hiking and fishing opportunities. Be sure to check with the Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks regulations for any specific fishing rules or regulations for Blodgett Creek. There are several local fly shops in Hamilton that can provide the best suggestions.
Be aware of potential flooding during certain times of the year, especially in the upper reaches of the trail.
