Blacktail Mountain Ski Area

Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is located above the town of Lakeside, Montana. It is a local and regional ski area with 1000 acres of National Forest land and an average annual snowfall of 250” of natural snow. The summit elevation is 6,780 ft with a vertical drop of 1440 feet. 


Terrain is rated 15% Beginner, 70% Intermediate, 15% Advanced.  The lift system features two double chairs, one triple chair and a conveyor belt for beginners. The day lodge offers rentals, retail shop, bar, restaurant, ski and snowboard school, and great views of Flathead Lake and the Flathead Valley.


Open Wednesday through Sunday, with lifts spinning from 9am until 4pm. Season general runs from early December through April depending on snow levels.

Getting There

Directions

Blacktail Mountain, on the west shore of Flathead Lake; overlooks Lakeside, Montana. The Ski Area is quick to get to with easy access from Highway 93 South.

Look for the signs and, once in Lakeside, turn west at Blacktail Grocery.

Follow the Blacktail Road 14 miles to the mountaintop.

Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is an easy 45 minute drive from downtown Kalispell, 2 hours from Missoula, and an hour and a half from Glacier Park International Airport and the train depot in Whitefish.
