Ford Cabin

Ford is available May 20th through March 31st annually. Ford Cabin is 45 miles north of Columbia Falls along the Wild and Scenic North Fork of the Flathead River. The cabin was built in 1922 by Ralph Thayer and was part of the Ford Ranger Station. Ford has a propane stove, lights, heater, and a vault toilet. The party size is 6 with one double bed and two bunk beds. Please pack out what you brought including your garbage. Grizzly bears live in the area; store your food, beverages, coolers, and garbage inside the cabin. Pets are not allowed at Ford. Commercial use of the cabins is prohibited (outfitter guides, groups or organizations with compensated leaders/chaperones).

Ford Cabin is located 45 miles up the North Fork County Road 486. To find the North Fork Road take Nucleus Avenue north through Columbia Falls, turn east on Railroad Street at the stop sign, this becomes the North Fork Road as it travels over the railroad overpass. Travel on the North Fork Road to just north of the Whale Creek Road #318, turn right on Road #308 (approximately 11 miles north of Polebridge) following the signs to Ford Cabin; you will cross a small bridge and the cabin is on your right. The North Fork Road is gravel, rough in spots, and intermittently plowed during the winter months. 4 wheel drive and chains are recommended during winter.
