FOREST ORDER
National Forest System Campgrounds–Logging Creek Campground Closure
Pursuant to 16 USC 551 and Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a), the following orders and restrictions regarding Logging Creek Campground on the Belt Creek-White Sulphur Springs Ranger District, Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest are hereby enacted:
PROHIBITION:
- It is prohibited to go into or be upon any area which is closed for the protection of public health or safety. [36 CFR 261.53 (e)]
PURPOSE:
This order prohibits entry onto the Logging Creek Campground developed recreation site and includes all methods of travel (foot, mechanized, motorized and stock) in the Logging Creek Campground and are hereby incorporated into this order and depicted on the attached map (Exhibit A- Logging Creek Campground). This closure is for public safety due to construction and heavy equipment use to build pull through camping sites for larger trailers and RV’s and improve camping sites throughout the campground.
AREA CLOSURE DESCRIPTION:
This area closure is for the entire Logging Creek Campground on the Belt Creek-White Sulphur Springs Ranger District. This campground area closure is highlighted by a big red “X” in Exhibit A Map, generally located at T15N R6E in section 31.
IMPLEMENTATION:
This order will be in effect from May 9, 2025 and shall remain in effect until October 31, 2025, or until the order is rescinded, whichever occurs first.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
1) Persons with a permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
2) Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty; and
3) Any other person meeting exemption requirements specified in the order.
VIOLATION:
Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. (16 U.S.C. 551 and 18 U.S.C. 3559 and 3571).
INFORMATION:
Any person wishing to use a National Forest System road or trail or a portion of the National Forest System, should contact the Forest Supervisor, Director, Administrator, or District Ranger to ascertain the special restrictions which may be applicable thereto.
