Slate Creek Road to close temporarily for improvement work

ELLISTON, Mont. – April 16, 2025 — From April 15 through May 30, 2025, the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest will temporarily close Slate Creek Road #1871, just south of Elliston, for road improvements. The road improvement activities include rock grinding and reconditioning to address drainage issues.

This road closure is approximately 2.8 miles and begins at the intersection of Little Blackfoot Road #227 and Slate Creek Road #1871 on the Helena Ranger District. This road closure continues along Slate Creek Road #1871 to the intersection of Slate Creek Road #1871 and #1871-A1 and continues through where it ends at the intersection of Slate Creek Road #1871-A1 and FSR 1871-A3.
