Boulder Meadows

Boulder Meadows is a hub for an incredible network of long trails. Boulder Meadows Trail #57 winds through the meadows for about a mile and junctions with Kelly pass Trail #155. Both trails cross Boulder Creek at different locations. 

Kelly Pass Trail #155 also junctions with Timber Mountain Trail #51 and Smythe Trail #515. Divide Lake, Timber Mountain, Star Mountain and Middle Mountain are all accessible from trail #51.

Smythe Trail #515 is a commonly used wildlife trail, and you are likely to see sign of moose, bears, elk and deer.

Iron Mountain, Boulder Mountain, Buck Mountain and Divide Lake area are all accessible from the Iron Mountain Trail #180. There are beautiful views of the meadows, kootenai Valley, Slekirk Mountains, Montana and Canada from some of these trails.

Access #1: 

  • North on US 95 from Bonners Ferry Ranger District Office for two miles
  • Right on Ash Street
  • Left on Cow Creek Road
  • Left on Crossport Road
  • Left on Katka Face Road (to Road 314)
  • Right on Twenty Mile Road #408
  • Left on Boulder Creek Road #427
  • Continue until you reach the meadows

Access #2:

  • South on US 95 from Bonners Ferry Ranger District Office
  • Left on Twenty Mile Road #408
  • Right on Boulder Creek Road #427
  • Continue until you reach the meadows
