Devils Thumb Trailhead

The Devils Thumb Trailhead provides access to the Indian Peaks Wilderness via the Devils Thumb Trail and the High Lonesome Trail (#7).

Permits are required for overnight stays in the Indian Peaks Wilderness from June 1 to September 15. Additional permit requirements exist for large and organized groups.

Mechanized/motorized travel is prohibited.

Do not camp or build campfires within 100 feet of developed trails or bodies of water.

Group size is limited to 12 people and/or livestock.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times.

Directions

From US Hwy 40 between Fraser and Tabernash, take County Road 8 east to County Road 81. Go north for 2 miles to Forest Road 128.2C.

Travel Considerations

The access road is closed to motor vehicles between Nov. 15 and June 15.

There is parking for 15 vehicles.
