M. Walter Pesman (#50)

This 1.1 mile, one way trail was aptly named in honor of the work performed by Walter Pesman, a renowned Denver landscape architect and author of a wildflower identification book titled Meet the Natives. This hike, also referred to as the Mount Goliath Trail, is a great wildflower hike through ancient bristlecone pine trees. There are two access points for this trail. The lower trailhead is located behind the nature center at the Mount Goliath Natural Area and goes up hill. The upper trailhead is located two miles up the road at the Upper Goliath Trailhead and goes downhill. Due to high elevation, the trails in some years are not generally snow-free until late June or mid-July.
