Middle Saint Vrain Trailhead
Middle Saint Vrain Trailhead lies at the west end of Camp Dick Campground. Four-wheel-drive high clearance vehicles may be able to continue four miles west on the rough Middle Saint Vrain Road (National Forest System Road 114) to Buchanan Pass Trailhead. Middle Saint Vrain Trailhead provides access to Buchanan Pass Trail and the Middle Saint Vrain four-wheel-drive road.
General Information
Camping permits are required for all overnight trips between June 1 and September 15
Organized groups are required to have a permit for both camping and day-hiking year round. Day-hiking permits are free.
Groups of more than 12 are prohibited
Middle St Vrain Road regulations:
- Dispersed camping is prohibited within the first 1/2 mile.
- Vehicles must be either street-legal or registered annually through Colorado State Parks' OHV Registration Program.
- Camp at least 100 feet away from water and trail.
Buchanan Pass Trail east of the Indian Peaks Wilderness boundary regulations:
- Dispersed camping is prohibited within the first 1/2 mile.
- Dogs prohibited between December 1 and April 30.
- Camp at least 100 feet away from water and trail.
Buchanan Pass Trail within the Indian Peaks Wilderness regulations:
- Permits required for overnight use.
- Motorized equipment and mechanized transportation are prohibited (no bicycles).
- Dogs prohibited between December 1 and April 30.
- Campfires are prohibited year round.
- Camp at least 100 feet away from water and trail.
- Group size is limited to 12 (people/livestock combined).
- Processed weed-free feed required for stock.
Fishing and hunting managed by Colorado Parks & Wildlife.
Dogs required to be on a hand-held leash.

Directions
Approximately 6.5 miles north of Ward, Colorado, on Colorado Highway 72, watch for signs for Peaceful Valley and Camp Dick Campgrounds. Turn west onto Middle Saint Vrain Road (County Road 92 and National Forest System Road 114) and proceed approximately one mile to the west end of Camp Dick.

There is parking for 30 vehicles, with room for a small horse trailer.
