Zimmerman (#940)
The Zimmerman Trail lies north and south of the Crown Point Road and is mostly within the Comanche Peak Wilderness. The 2.5 mile southern section of the trail gains about 600 feet of elevation before ending at the Flowers Trail (#939). The northern section of the Zimmerman Trail descends about 1,000 feet through the forest for three miles to an open meadow. The trail crosses Sheep Creek and meets the mile-long Sheep Creek Cutoff Trail that ascends to Forest Road 142, Black Hollow Road. Zimmerman Trail north beyond this point has not been maintained and is mostly overgrown. There is no access from the Zimmerman Trail to the Poudre Canyon due to private land.
