GUNNISON RANGER DISTRICT
Pursuant to 16 United States Code (USC) § 551 and 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) § 261.50(a), the following act is prohibited within the Almont Triangle area on the Gunnison Ranger District of the Gunnison National Forest, Gunnison County, State of Colorado(the “Restricted Area”).
The Restricted Area is depicted on the attached map, hereby incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A.
This Order is necessary to protect the special biological communities of deer, elk and bighorn sheep on critical winter range.
PROHIBITION:
Going into or being upon the Restricted Area at any time between midnight of December 1 through midnight of April 30. 36 CFR § 261.53(b)
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
1. Any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty;
2. Persons with a Forest Service permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR § 261(A).
This Order shall remain in effect until rescinded, or until December 31, 2025, whichever event occurs first.

Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. 16 USC § 551 and 18 USC §§ 3559 and 3571.
