Smith Point #636
Smith Point Trail #636 travels from the end of Smith Point Road, FSR #406, to the Dominguez Road on BLM land. It is intersected at approximately 1.2 miles by Carson Hole Trail #610. The first one-half mile is the steepest section; this section is characterized primarily by Ponderosa Pine and Spruce/Fir. The trail then travels across an open meadow and sage area before crossing a small creek and intersecting with Bret Point Trail #649. The remaining section of the trail travels primarily through Ponderosa Pine, Pinyon/Juniper, and sagebrush.

UPPER ACCESS:
From the northern Uncompahgre National Forest boundary, travel 13.3 miles south on Divide Road, FSR #402, to the Cold Springs Ranger Cabin turn-off, Smith Point Road, FSR #406. Turn left and travel east 8 mile to where the Smith Point Road dead ends at a fence line and Smith Point Trail begins. The trailhead is located on the right (east) side of the road.
LOWER ACCESS:
Turn left (south) off of Divide Road, FSR #402, onto Dominguez Road approximately .5 mile below the Forest Boundary. Travel southeast on the Dominguez Road for 4.3 miles to the lower trailhead. The lower trailhead is located about .6 mile before the BLM Dominguez Campground. It is marked by a 4x4 post on the right side of Dominguez Road.
