Bear Lake Fishing Pier

This day use area is free of charge and is popular for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddle boarding. It offers a pier to fish from and a picnic area with tables, grills and fire grates. 

The fishing pier has a bench and an educational kiosk with information and illustrations about the fish species in the reservoir. Near the pier is also a small bridge to fish from the dam and a path to walk around part of the lake. The fishing pier is ADA accessible. Users should take caution of the spillway located under the bridge. 

Electric trolling motors are allowed, internal combustion engines are not allowed, and fishing licenses are required. Licenses can be purchased through Colorado Parks and Wildlife offices as well as the Montgomery’s Grocery store in Yampa. 

Dogs must remain on a leash at all times. 

Reachable by vehicle during the summer months, and snowmobile during the winter months.

No camping is allowed at the day use area, however there are ample camping opportunities nearby. Dogs must remain on least at all times. No motorized boats allowed

From HWY 131, get off at the town of Yampa on Moffat Street (next to Sinclair's Gas Station)
Proceed a few blocks through downtown Yampa. At Montgomery's General Store and Antlers Bar & Cafe, follow CTY Rd 7 and signs pointing towards Yamcolo Reservoir.  Follow CTY Rd 7 for 7 miles, here the road turns to dirt which is the Forest Boundary and turns into Forest Service Road 900, proceed past Yamcolo Reservoir to the Bear Lake Campground entrance. The fishing pier is located just outside of Bear Lake Campground itself. 

Beyond the lake, the road comes to a dead end at 17 miles at Stillwater Reservoir and Trailhead.
