Newcomb Creek Trailhead

Ample parking is available at the trailhead. This trail is an old jeep road from the trailhead to the west of Newcomb Park. From this point, the trail climbs rapidly to the Continental Divide. Water is not readily available above Newcomb Park. There are adequate campsites along the trail. Cattle will be in this area from July through September. The trail is suitable for horses and forage is adequate in Newcomb Park or on the Continental Divide. The wilderness is closed to motorized and mechanized vehicles.

Directions

From Walden, take Hwy 14 west for approximately 11 miles to Hebron. Turn right on County Road 24 driving west through forks with County Roads 5 and 1. After approximately 10 miles the road becomes Forest Road 60 and passes the Grizzly Creek Guard Station at the forest boundary. Turn right on Forest Road 615. Drive 3 1/2 miles, crossing Newcomb Creek, to the entrance to Newcomb Creek Trailhead on the left-hand side.
