Big Mac Fishing Site

Big Mac Fishing Site is located on the northern shore of Twin Lakes Reservoir near the Mt. Elbert Power Plant and Visitor Center off of U.S. Hwy 82. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout.

Other fishing sites for Twin Lakes are as follows: Mt. Elbert Power Plant, Deception Point, Praying Angel, Dexter Point, Red Rooster, Moache, Sunnyside (East & West), Mountain View and Whistler Point. These sites are restricted to day-use only and close at 10:00 p.m.

Open year round

This day-use site closes at 10:00 p.m. daily.

Remember to check fishing regulations before fishing at any body of water. For stocking reports and more information on regulations or fishing licenses, check out the Colorado Parks & Wildlife website.

This facility is open year round, with fees starting the Friday preceding Memorial Day through Labor Day, unless camping within a Leadville Ranger District developed campground. The fee is $10.00 and there is a fee tube at the site.

Directions

From Leadville travel south on U.S. Hwy 24 to the junction of Colorado Highway 82. Travel west approximately 4 miles to Lake County Road 24. Turn left before you reach the visitor center. This access road will bring you to the northern shore of Twin Lakes Reservoir and Big Mac Fishing Site.
