Buck Gulch Trailhead

Buck Gulch Trailhead is located on NFSR 553, which is on the west side of the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area system. This trailhead access the Buck Gulch (#772) and Skipper (#790) Trails.

Although open year-round, access during the winter may be limited due to snow.

Directions

To access the Buffalo Creek Recreation area from Denver, travel Highway 285 South (west) to Pine Junction. Turn south on Highway 126 and continue 13.5 miles to Forest Service road 550. Turn right, heading west and travel 7.5 miles, keeping right at each “Y” to Forest Service road 553. Turn right and the trailhead is 2.5 miles ahead.

To access the Buffalo Creek Recreation area from Bailey, travel Park County road 68 (Wellington Lake Road) to the first “Y”.  Turn left, heading east and travel 2 miles to Forest Service road 553. Turn left and the trailhead is 2.5 miles ahead.
