Pikes Peak Recreational Shooting Areas
Recreational shooting is allowed on most National Forest System lands. However, there are some specific areas closed to target shooting and many rules do apply. The rules, regulations, and guidelines are provided in the brochure found on the Pikes Peak Ranger District Shooting Brochure. Please review the Shooting Brochure and read the rules and regulations carefully.
The Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex is a public shooting range, that is located South of Colorado Springs, immediately adjacent to Fort Carson. Click here for more information.
General Information
The Rampart Range Road Shooting Range was PERMANENTLY CLOSED years ago. Contact the Pikes Peak Ranger District at: 601 South Weber Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Informational Shooting Brochures are available in person or on the web.
Discharging a firearm is always prohibited within 150 yards of a residence, building, campsite, occupied area, on or across a road, near or across a body of water, in a cave, or in any manner or place whereby any person or property is exposed to injury or damage.
Sunrise to Sunset
Target shooting is permitted on National Forest land in El Paso county except in restricted areas. See Target Shooting Brochure for a map of restricted areas.
