Point of Rocks Interpretive Site

An important landmark along the Santa Fe National Historic Trail and the third highest point in Kansas, this site offers interpretive signs, access to the Santa Fe National Historic Trail and scenic views of Cimarron River, looking into Oklahoma and Colorado.

6 a.m to 10 p.m.

Commercial outfitter and guides required to have a special use permit. Fees vary. Contact the Forest Service office in Elkhart, phone 620-697-4621, for further information.
Closed 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. No camping allowed. Trails are for non-motorized travel only.

Directions

From Elkhart, Kansas, take Hwy 27 north approximately 7 miles. Cross the Cimarron River and turn west onto FSR 600.3. Continue west approximately 3 miles. Turn south onto FSR 600.3A to Point of Rocks.
