North Brush Trail #1356
North Brush Trail #1356 is a 8.8-mile, moderately difficult trail that accesses the Brush Creek Lakes in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness. The trail continues on past the lakes and ends at the boundary with the Rio Grande National Forest and the Major Creek Trail #751. This should be considered as a multiple-day backpacking or destination trip.
General Information
The Sangre de Cristo Wilderness was established in 1993 to preserve its quality, character and integrity. This area is intended to be a place with minimal human impact where natural processes are the primary influences. Human activity is limited to primitive recreation and travel. Please follow Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics to ensure that this and future generations experience this special place in its natural condition.

Directions
From Westcliffe, CO, take State Highway 69 north to the town of Hillside. Just north of the town, turn onto County Road 198 (Lake Creek Road). Just before the Lake Creek Campground, turn left onto Forest Service Road 337 (Duckett Creek). The road is rocky but negotiable in a two-wheel-drive vehicle. Stay on Forest Service Road 337 for about 3.5 miles, and then the road will turn to the right; follow it to reach the North Brush Creek Trailhead. If you stay straight, the road turns into Forest Service Road 338.
