Conejos Campground

Conejos Campground is a small loop campground with a few tent sites. It serves as an overflow camping area for Spectacle Lake Campground which is nearby. Picnic tables, fire rings, and a vault toilet are available here.

General Information

Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend

Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Passes provide a 50% discount to single campsites ONLY.

*The discount applies only to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass holder, not to any additional fee or campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass holder's party.

Interagency Recreation Passes are Honored for Day Use.

Fires in designated fire rings only. Make sure your fire is "Dead Out" and cold to the touch before departing the site. Pack In/Pack Out all trash. This can be bear country. Remain "Bear Aware" and store food properly while camping.

$12 per day
Overnight Use:
Single Site: $26 per night

Dogs must be on leash not longer than six feet in length.

Directions

From Antonito, CO, take US 285 south 0.3 miles to Hwy 17. Continue straight on Hwy 17 and go 21.9 miles to Platoro sign (Forest Rd. 250). At sign, turn right onto Rd. 250 (dirt) and go 6.6 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign into campground.

Travel Considerations

Motorized travel may be restricted by snow and annual seasonal road closures from March 15th to May 15th.

Parking for vehicles and small trailers only.

Restrooms are available at this site.

Water

Potable water is not available at this site.

Water from streams and lakes should be purified before consumption.

Horse/Pack animals are not allowed at this site.

Other Amenities

There is fishing access to the Conejos River and Spectacle Lake. The lake is year-round, with winter ice-fishing. Spectacle Lake Trail 730 begins 1/2 mile south on Forest Road 250. Ruybalid Trail 855 and Notch Trail 729 are also accessible.
