Thirty Mile Campground
Thirty Mile Campground is nestled on the banks of the Rio Grande, just a short mile from the Rio Grande Reservoir. The campground is located in a wooded meadow situated between the Rio Grande and newly renamed Grizzly Creek with some sites overlooking the creek. All sites are nestled among mature spruce or Aspen trees. On the west side of the campground, there is parking and trailhead access for two trails: Grizzly Creek Trail # 814 and Weminuche Creek Trail # 818. Both trails link to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail.
There are 35 sites. 9 are pull through sites. Double sites can accommodate up to 16 people.
This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques.
Reservations
Make Reservations HereReservations can be made through www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Reservations must be made at least 4 days ahead of arrival and can be made up to 6 months in advance for standard sites.
Of the 35 campsites: 28 are reservable, 7 are first come, first served.
General Information
Trash service is provided by the concessionaire from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Outside of the summer season, there is no trash service. Please pack out all garbage.
There is a parking area outside the campground for fishermen and backpackers.
No stock unloading or horse trailers are permitted in the campground, but 3/4 miles east, along Forest Road 520, there is a stock unloading area. Stock trailers can be parked at this location which has public corrals. Trail #817 runs from the stock unloading area to the campground where riders can access the two wilderness trails: Grizzly Creek Trail # 814 and Weminuche Creek Trail # 818.
Firewood may available for a fee from the concessionaire vendor.
Open year-round, but may be inaccessible due to snow levels or spring road closures. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, there are higher fees, water, and trash service. During the off-season, there is a reduced fee, no water, and trash must be packed out.
Check in time is after 2:00 pm. Check out time is before 11:00 am.
Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Passes provide a 50% discount to single campsites ONLY.
*The discount applies only to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass holder, not to any additional fee or campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass holder's party.

This can be bear country. Remain "Bear Aware" and store food properly while camping.

Fee envelopes and a collection box are located near the entrance.
Dogs must be on leash not longer than six feet in length.

Directions
From Creede, CO, take State 149 south (toward Lake City) 19.3 miles to Rio Grande Reservoir sign (Forest Rd. 520). Turn left onto Rd. 520 and go 0.5 miles to a "Y" intersection. Bear left onto a dirt road, staying on Rd. 520, and go 10.8 miles to campground sign. Left turn into campground.

Maximum spur length is 40 feet. Not all sites will fit vehicles of this length.

Potable water is available at this site.
Water is available in the campground during the summer season, typically Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. Outside of the summer season, potable water is NOT available in the campground.
