Kiowa National Grasslands
Within the short grass prairie of the southern Great Plains lie the Kiowa and Rita Blanca National Grasslands. These grasslands encompass approximately 230,000 acres in six counties within New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma. These administrative units are not solid blocks of Government owned land; rather they consist of numerous small Government parcels, intermingled with privately owned tracts. Prior to settlement, this area was home to many American Indian tribes. The abundance of buffalo and wildlife provides strong testimony to the importance of the grass resource.
Mills Canyon is a unique destination within the Kiowa National Grasslands that offers stunning views of the Canadian River below and an abundance of recreation opportunities for those looking to explore.

No fees are collected on the Kiowa National Grasslands recreation sites.

Mills and Mesteño Canyons make up the Mills Canyon Complex which offers diverse opportunities for all sorts of recreation.
Elevation of this campground is 5,760 feet and offers 6 camping units.
Mills Canyon Campground is a beautiful, remote campground situated within the Canadian River Canyon at an elevation of 5,160 feet. There are 12 camping units available.
