Black Canyon Campground - Upper

Black Canyon Campground offers a great remote camping experience.

Located in a remote area of the forest approximately 30 miles from the Wilderness Ranger District office. This campground is accessible from Forest Road 150 (North Star Road). The upper campground is the first camping area you will come across and is visible from the entrance road.

The forest recommends high-clearance 4x4 vehicles on Forest Road 150.

General Information

Closest Stores:
La Tienda, a small store in Mimbres, is the closest store to the campground. It is also the last place to get gas before going to Black Canyon.

RV Camping Notes:
Due to the road condition of FR150, which is an improved dirt/rock road, RV's may find it very difficult to reach the campground. A high clearance 4 x4 vehicle is recommended.

There is no garbage pickup at this campground.  Please pack out what you pack in and practice Leave No Trace camping.
