Jacob Canyon Trail #35

The 5.7 mile trail can be accessed by FS road 22 or Hwy. 89A. If you start from Hwy. 89A the trail is a narrow, downhill hike all the way.

It is gentle descent that can be traveled in either direction. The bottom part of the trail contains older ponderosa pine trees. Remnants of history are along the trail.

Getting There

Trailhead/Starting Points

North - Forest Road 246 approximately 0.4 miles south of US Highway 89A

South - Forest Road 243 approximately 2 miles east of Forest Road 22 via Forest Road 422A

Directions

From Fredonia (approximately 20.6 miles):

  • Follow US Highway 89A south out of Fredonia for approximately 1.6 miles,
  • Turn right onto Forest Road 22 and follow for approximately 17.9 miles,
  • Turn left onto Forest Road 422A and follow for approximately 1.2 miles,
  • Turn right onto Forest Road 243 and follow for approximately 0.9 miles to trailhead.

From Jacob Lake (approximately 13 miles):

  • Head south on US Highway 67 for approximately 0.3 miles,
  • Turn right onto Forest Road 461 and follow for approximately 8.6 miles,
  • Turn right onto Forest Road 22 and follow for approximately 3 miles,
  • Turn right onto Forest Road 422A and follow for approximately 1.2 miles,
  • Turn right onto Forest Road 243 and follow for approximately 0.9 miles to trailhead.
