Thumb Butte

Located approximately four miles west of Prescott, Arizona, adjacent to Miller Creek. Restrooms with flush toilets and potable water are provided. Area is lighted after dark, electric outlets provided (20 amp maximum). Horseshoe pits available at group site, bring shoes. Access to hiking trails.

General Information

Driving Directions from downtown Prescott: Take Gurley Street west, which becomes Thumb Butte Road, travel 2.2 miles to the Thumb Butte Picnic Area entrance on the right.

Day-use site and trailhead:

  • March 1 - April 30: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • May 1 - August 31: 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • September 1 - November 30: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • December 1 - February 28 (or 29): 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Day Use:
$5 per vehicle per day
$20 per four-month pass
$40 per annual pass
No fee every Wednesday
