Raccoon Trail

Located primarily within the Sierra Ancha Wilderness, the trail (which drops into Raccoon Creek) passes through a riparian zone and a grove of Arizona cypress. Access to both ends of this trail will require a high clearance vehicle.

General Information

Use of any mechanized or motorized travel is prohibited on this trail. No more than 15 people are allowed to be in a group. No more than 15 head of livestock are allowed in a group.

Directions

From the Tonto Basin Ranger District Office: Take State Route # 188 South East 13 miles to State Route #288. Take AZ-288 North 7 miles to Forest Road #203. The rest of the route will be a dirt road where a high clearance 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Continue on the 203 road for 10 miles to Forest Road #203A. Follow 203A to its end roughly 6 miles until reaching the TH and the Wilderness Boundary.
