Thicket

Thicket Spring Trail is located near the Southeast boundary of the Mazatzal Wilderness. The trail starts at McFarland Camp inside the wilderness where it is part of the Arizona National Scenic Trail. It makes its way North before joining the Cornucopia Trail # 86.

General Information

3 mile trail that bounces in and out of the Mazatzal Wilderness and is part of the 800-mile Arizona National Scenic trail. 

Use of any mechanized or motorized travel is prohibited on this trail. No more than 15 people are allowed to be in a group. No more than 15 head of livestock are allowed in a group.

Nearest parking is Mormon Grove TH where users will need to access via Saddle Mountain trail #91 and Sheep Creek trail #88. 

Directions

Nearest Parking is at Mormon Grove TH: From the Fountain Hills turn off on State Route #87 take the 87 North roughly 34 miles before turning right on Forest Road #626. Follow the 626 road roughly 1.5 miles to Forest Road #201. Take the 201 road roughly 1.5 miles to Forest Road #25. Follow the 25 road roughly 5 miles to reach the Mormon Grove TH. Forest Road #25 is rocky and steep in sections. A 4x4 high clearance vehicle is recommended.
