Firehole Campground

Firehole Canyon Campground is located on the far northeastern shore of Flaming Gorge Reservoir within the Flaming Gorge Recreation Area on the Ashley National Forest. Rock Springs, Wyoming, is just 29 miles away. The campground lies in a high desert environment. Russian olive trees and sagebrush are scattered throughout the site. The campsites feature a shared pad designed to accommodate two separate sites. A thoughtfully divided shade structure provides a degree of privacy for each area, with each side equipped with its own picnic table. This layout offers campers a unique blend of communal and individual spaces, perfect for those looking to enjoy the outdoors while maintaining a sense of personal space. It's an ideal setup for friends or families who want to stay close yet still have their own designated areas. The site offers minimal shade but provides scenic views of the reservoir, surrounded by bluffs and striking red rock formations.

Fishing, boating, canoeing, water skiing and swimming are popular activities on the lake. Campers are offered the convenience of an adjacent boat ramp, and a day use swim beach area.

Showers and trash collection are provided. An RV dump station is located on-site and available for a small fee.

Firewood is available to purchase.

Current Conditions
In the high desert, weather conditions can fluctuate drastically. During the day, temperatures often soar under the clear, unobstructed sun, creating a warm and inviting environment. However, as the sun sets, the temperatures drop rapidly, bringing a stark and chilly contrast to the daytime warmth. Wind plays a significant role as well, with breezes ranging from gentle and refreshing to strong and persistent. The wind can pick up dust and create a rugged atmosphere, adding to the unique charm of the high desert landscape.
