Greens Lake Campground

Greens Lake Campground, nestled next to its scenic namesake along Red Canyon Road, is a tranquil retreat for nature lovers. Visitors can delight in canoeing and fishing on the pristine lake or venture out to explore the picturesque Canyon Rim Trail.

Located along the shore of Greens Lake, the campground is just a mile away from the stunning cliffs of Red Canyon that offer breathtaking views of Flaming Gorge Reservoir below. The area is dotted with lodgepole and ponderosa pines, as well as aspens, providing partial shade. In the summer, the campground is adorned with an abundance of wildflowers and grasses, enhancing its natural beauty.

Dump stations are located nearby at Deer Run, Firefighters, and Lodgepole Campgrounds and are available to use for a small fee. Trash Collection is available. 

Showers are located at Deer Run and Mustang Ridge for campers with proof of camping registration. There are no electric or sewer hookups available.

  • Greens Lake is a small lake for non-motorized watercraft only. It offers great canoeing and fishing for rainbow and brook trout. Red Canyon Lodge sits directly across the lake offering canoe, fishing rod and bike rentals, horseback riding, a restaurant and gift shop are available.
  • The Red Canyon Visitor Center is a must-visit destination that offers engaging interpretive programs and captivating displays, providing visitors with a deep understanding of the area's natural and cultural history. The center also boasts incredible scenic views of the dramatic canyon landscape, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers and photographers. Whether you're interested in learning more about the region or simply taking in the breathtaking vistas, the Red Canyon Visitor Center is sure to leave a lasting impression.
  • Canyon Rim Trail, a 4.6-mile-long trail for hiking and biking, begins at the nearby Red Canyon visitor center and ends at the Greendale Overlook.
  • Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area is known not only for its beautiful red cliffs, but also for its world-class fishing for lake, brown and rainbow trout. Boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and scuba diving are popular activities on the reservoir.
  • Flaming Gorge Dam offers guided tours of the working hydroelectric plant and the dam itself; The adjacent visitor center contains area history exhibits.
  • The Green River below the dam provides spectacular rafting opportunities. A trip down the river offers unique geology, outlaw history and Native American rock art.
Current Conditions
At high mountain campgrounds, visitors can expect cooler temperatures, especially during the evenings and early mornings. The air is crisp and refreshing, often carrying the scent of pine or other native flora. Weather conditions can vary, with the possibility of sudden changes, so it's important to be prepared for anything from sunny skies to brief rain or even snow showers.

East approximately 205 miles from Salt Lake City, Utah. Located on the Red Canyon Road off Highway 44 - between Vernal, Utah and Manila, Utah, within walking distance to Red Canyon Lodge.
