Edna Creek Campground

This site contains both reservable and first-come, first-served camp sites. Reservations can be made at Recreation.gov.

The Edna Campground is located 56 miles northeast of Boise, Idaho, in a scenic Ponderosa pine forest along State Highway 21 at an elevation of 5,700 feet. This beautiful campground is a close get away from Boise, Idaho and a great place to go hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing and relaxing under the stars.

Natural Features:

Wildlife and summer wildflowers are abundant. Historic Idaho City is just 11 miles south. Crooked River runs near the site, offering whitefish and rainbow trout fishing.

Recreation:

Highway 21, also known as the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway, snakes along Mores Creek to Mores Creek Summit, Gold Fork, and Banner Ridge with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and forest. Numerous trail opportunities are in the area, offering hiking, biking, horseback riding, and OHV opportunities. In winter, the area becomes a playground for backcountry skiers and snowmobilers.

General Information

Facilities:

The campground contains 11 sites that can accommodate up to 6 people each.  There are picnic tables, a BBQ grill, and fire ring with benches.  The site is in an open area with some shade.  There are vault toilets and drinking water. 

The Upper Crooked River Trailhead includes visitor information.  It serves Crooked River (#158) and Beaver Creek (#276) trails located close to Edna Creek and Whoop Um Up Equestrian Campgrounds.

The Whoop-Um-Up Trailhead includes a restroom and information kiosk. Idaho State Park-N-Ski pass is required from November 15 - April 30 each year.

Directions

  • From Idaho City, Idaho, travel State Highway 21 north for about 18 miles to the campground.
  • You will drive past Mores Creek Summit.  The entrance to the campground is on the east side of the road.
