Phillip's Canyon

Length:   5.15 miles from Fish Cr Road Trailhead to jct with Phillips Pass Trail #4001C

Elevation:   6310 ft at Fish Cr Trailhead, 7976 ft at jct with Phillips Pass Trail

Open to:  Hikers, Mountain Bikes, Equestrian

Trail Highlights:

  • The trail leaves the road and passes through private property, please stay on the trail through this section.  The trail winds through the forest alongside the creek, crosses some small foot bridges and reaches a junction with the Phillips Ridge Trail.  From here the trail begins to climb up through the forest.
  • The trail continues to climb at a fairly mellow grade for several miles, through thick old growth forest with occasional openings with nice views of the drainage.  It eventually comes out to a junction with the Arrow Trail and then the junction with the Phillips Pass Trail. 

Options: 

  • This trail can be used as a loop option with the Phillips Ridge Trail and Arrow Trail or Phillips Pass Trail.  If descending on mountain bike, please control your speed and be aware of folks coming up the trail.

Getting There

Directions

 

From Jackson, follow Highway 22 out to Wilson and take a right either at the turn for the school or just before the Stagecoach Bar.  Follow this around and turn onto Fish Cr Road.  Follow this out for several miles, cross the creek over the bridge and continue for another mile or so until you reach a small parking lot on your right. Park here and the trail begins across the street.
